Restore The Gospel (Know It, Live It, Share It, Contend For It)

How can you witness if you don’t even know what the gospel is? The beginning stages of life are important and beautiful, and so it is with understanding the beginning stages of the gospel.

Many people are genuinely saved by the gospel. Yet many of those same people do not genuinely know the gospel. Most modern evangelicals today think the gospel is, “Jesus loves you. Say the sinner’s prayer mantra and conveniently activate your eternal life before it’s to late.” Those who have done this in the past, or have done it multiple times, foolishly think they have been truly saved and hence truly know the gospel. They think they have benefited from all that it has to offer them. They are ready to move on from it like a new book. They think God’s sole purpose in the gospel is to stroke their egos. They are tired of hearing “the gospel” because all it is to them is a self-saving mantra for unbelievers.
They don’t realize it has everything to do with their lives AS believers too. They think if they sing along to DC Talk and United Live lyrics then they’re “on fire for God”. They think they make Christianity more “glamorous” because they come across as boarder-line worldly. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. Because many do not know the fullness of the gospel and do not have a biblical knowledge of OT law and NT grace, they view Jesus more as their “homeboy” rather than their awesome Savior and terrifying Lord. Because the gospel is so skirted in the church today, many are not impressed with Christ and do not see Him as He is.
If you claim to be a Christian, then does any of this sound familiar? Does any of this concern you?
There’s a lot of gospel restoring to do for there are many dressed up gospels out there. The gospel message needs no restoration itself. It is forever perfect. But we must see that it becomes restored as center focus in ourselves and the Church. Please join with me and others to fulfill this difficult task!
